2,800 Kurdish civilians kidnapped in Afrin

ARK News: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that 2,800 civilians in the Kurdish region of Afrin region have been kidnapped by the armed factions since the first day of the attack on the area on 21/1/2018.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday, June 23, 2019, that 2038 out of the 2,800 civilians of Afrin region remain among the abductees, where the rest were released after most of them were paid a ransom ranging from $ 1,000 to $ 50,000.

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin reported on 28/3/2019 in a report that the armed factions have been kidnapped since their takeover of Afrin in March 2018, about 4,700 of whom 600 were subjected to brutal torture.

The Organization added: "Those who demanded the ransom for their release, the number reached 350 citizens and the number of those who died under torture reached to 18 people."
