Statement on the occasion of the birth of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria

ARK News: On the 14th of June 2019 is the 62nd anniversary of the birth of our party (the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria), where the establishment of the first Kurdish political party in 1957 to unite our people and frame the forces and activities of the struggle, and expresses aspirations, hopes and objectives of national legitimacy.

This party was born in important political conditions internationally, regionally and locally, where its birth coincided with many international projects and alliances (the fourth point, the project of Eisenhower, Baghdad pact ..) with increasing political pressure on Syria, especially from neighbor Turkey, and the start of dialogues between Syria and Egypt to establish unity in February 1958.

The newborn Party has managed to achieve a wide public outreach around it, as well as the joining of young youth organizations and students, and has been able to achieve serious steps towards many fields, language, literature, heritage, Kurdish geographical issues, the history of revolutions and Kurdish uprisings, celebration of the National Day of Nawroz and other issues and events despite the weak potentials Scarcity of cadres and qualifications.

After the completion of the integration unit between Syria and Egypt in the name of (the United Arab Republic) and the coming the era of President Jamal Abdul Nasser, despite his positive attitude towards the Kurdish people, the signs of harassment have been started against political parties, especially our party and the Syrian Communist Party, where both parties refused the call for the dissolution of political parties with the establishment of the National Union, and the leaders and cadres of the party subjected to pressure and prosecution by the intelligence unit, then called (Office II) which led to the extent of arresting of most members of the leadership of the party, including the leader of the party the struggler Dr. Noraddin Zaza.

The party did not bow to appeasement in opposing the unjust chauvinist policies and abhorrent racist projects (Arab Belt, Statistics, Arabization policy, etc.) through the succession of governments and regimes since the time of unity and passing to separation reaching to the governments of the Baath Party and until the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in mid-March 2011, here the party's leadership exposed, because of those bold positions, to detention for many years in the seventies of the last century.

In spite of all the difficulties that the party has faced in its journey, the outbreak of the September revolution, which was launched by our Kurdish people in Kurdistan of Iraq under the leadership of Barzani the immortal(Mullah Mustafa) in 1961, has had an increasing impact on the party's activities. And our party has remained sipping from the approaches of the Kurdish approach the Barzani approach, and receives lessons from his school of struggle knowledge and practice, and will remain as it is continuing to pursue that approach to be part of the national project of Kurdistan, led by President Masoud Barzani, this project, which gave fruit day after day starting from extracting the March 11, 1970 statement from the former Iraqi regime, through federalism to the historic referendum September 25, 2017, which laid the foundations of the independence of Kurdistan to date, looking forward to a promising tomorrow for the Kurds and Kurdistan.

And continued to strive for the unity of the Kurdish class and the unity of its political position in the time of divisions, and was able to achieve important steps in this area, has been able to achieve many alliances to the contribution to the distinctive establishment of the Kurdish National Council in Syria with the beginning of the Syrian revolution, this is in addition to the achievement of the unity of integration among a number of Kurdish parties in one organization (the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria), and has been able to contribute to the achievement of a number of agreements (on the participants) with the most political parties varied, and will continue to operate safely in this direction as long as it serves the needs of our people and national aspirations.

Our party has also contributed to the building of national frameworks and joined the ranks of the national opposition with the outbreak of the peaceful Syrian revolution, and it will continue to pursue political activity on more than one level, Kurdish side, Kurdistan, national and even international, in order to work alongside the national forces that seek freedom for all in a country that can accommodate all its components, and it also calls for continued work to prepare for the next stage, which may carry us hopes for a bright and promising future in Syria, a multi-parliamentary, pluralistic, democratic state in which all national and religious affiliations enjoy national rights, including our Kurdish people in accordance with international covenants and charters.

Note: The anniversary of the establishment should have been celebrated with a wide public celebration, but in solidarity with those who suffered the horrors of the destruction of their agricultural seasons because of the outbreak of fires, which affected a large number of areas, all aspects of the celebration of joy and jubilation have been canceled on this occasion.

In conclusion, we pay tribute to all those who put the first building blocks of the founding of the party
