ARK News: Members of the US Congress provided assurances to Kurds in Syria, and said they would put pressure on the administration of President Donald Trump not to ignore the Kurds in Kurdistan of Syria.

Democratic Representative Elliot Engel, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said: "I think the United States needs to stand by our friends and Kurdish allies."

Engel said the "hasty" departure of US troops from Syria "would put many Kurdish people at risk."

"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not hesitate to act against them once the United States leaves," he continued.

MP Jim Costa, a California Democrat, said he was "very concerned" about the vagueness of US policy with respect to the Kurds and Kurdistan.
"I am very concerned that our president's talks with Erdogan ignore the importance of our partnership with the Kurdish people," he continued.

But Costa concluded saying: "As a member of Congress, I will continue to remind the Trump administration that we should not forget our friends and that the Kurds are our friends".
