A Turkish decision related to Abdullah Ocalan
ARK News: Ankara announced on Thursday, 16 May 2019, the lifting of the ban on lawyers 'visits to Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan who has been imprisoned in Turkish prisons for two decades.
Turkish Justice Minister Abdul Hamid Gul said that Turkey had lifted the ban on lawyers' visit to Ocalan, two weeks after the first such visit had been allowed since 2011.
"Decisions on the ban on visits have been lifted," Gul told reporters in remarks broadcast on Turkish television.
Ocalan was arrested in February 1999, and Turkey, the United States, and the European Union classify the PKK as a terrorist organization.
