ARK News: At least eight civilians were killed in intensive shelling by regime forces on southern rural Idlib province on Thursday, including three women and three children who were killed in artillery shelling on the outskirts of the village of Umm al-Tuwaina.

The victims also included two women who were killed in artillery shelling on the village of Abu Sharja in eastern rural Idlib. The towns of Tamana’a and Um Jalal in southern and south-eastern rural Idlib also came under artillery and rocket shelling, without reports of casualties.

Activists in rural Idlib said that the Civil Defense teams rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, pointing out that the source of the shelling was the regime-held villages of Tel Marek and Abu Omar.

Regime forces also carried out the heavy artillery and mortar shelling on the outskirts of the towns of Latamina and Morek as well as the villages of Lahaya and Qalat al-Madiq in northern and northwestern rural Hama, without reports of casualties.

In Dara’a, meanwhile, a number of children were wounded in the explosion of a landmine that was left by regime forces in the farmlands near the village of al-Shajara west of Dara’a. The incident coincided with house-to-house raids by regime forces in the town of Dael. An explosion of landmines planted by the Assad regime in Dara’a frequently causes civilian casualties.

The Assad regime and Russian forces have been repeatedly carrying out rocket and artillery shelling on the provinces of Idlib and Hama although the area is covered by the Russian-Turkish agreement calling for a halt to bombardment in the area.
