The Kurdish National Council condemns the killing of a citizen in Afrin

ARK News: Despite almost a year of Turkish forces' control of the Afrin region, that the series of violations against the Kurdish citizens of Afrin region continues on a daily basis, without a deterrent, without exposing the perpetrators to the required accounting.

The crime of assassination of eight-year-old Ali Qalandar, a resident of Mabata town which was carried out by the criminal murderer Ismael Haj Bakir of the civilian police force according to available information, on 10/2/2019, while he was grazing his sheep which falls within this context and an expression of this bitter reality that the fact that exposing a citizen to threatening and then killing only for his refusal to steal his property and his complaint to retrieval it is a flagrant violation of the most fundamental principle of human rights which is the right to life that the attainment of excesses and disregard for the rights and feelings of our Kurdish people to this extent is not only unacceptable but beyond the capacity of endurance.

We in the Kurdish National Council in Syria strongly condemn this heinous crime and other violations against our peaceful and defenseless citizens, we call on the concerned parties to seriously pursue the case and arrest the criminal and bring him to trial to receive a fair punishment for his heinous act.

We also call upon the Turkish authorities to fulfill their responsibilities and implement the obligations set out in the international instruments about the rights of indigenous people in the region.
