Jan 29 2019

ARK News: TRT World spoke exclusively to Abdul Hakim Bashar, who is a Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria, on the crisis in Syria and the following is the text of the talk:

Question: Mr Abdul Hakim Bashar you are one of the key political figures in the Syrian Kurdish arena tell us how you ended up taking refuge in the Iraqi Kurdish region instead of being with your own people in your home town Qamishlo?

Answer: A decision was made by the national security officer Syria to assassinate me and the PYD was ordered to carry up the assassination, the governor of Qamishlo during that period who is now working with the Syrian opposition coalition told me about the secret plot in front of everyone and he told I had to leave Syria within 2 days if I hadn’t left my house the PYD would kill me.

Question: When I interviewed you at the first Astana meeting you're pretty confident that the cooperation between the YPG and the US forces is limited to the fight against Da’esh and it's temporary now the National Security Adviser of the United States John Bolton equate the security of your people to PKK affiliate Militia that was trained in a cope by the US what would you say to that?

Answer: It's quite a strange position I think in 2012 we signed a deal with the PYD Beth Jones told me here in Istanbul and organized in 2012 the Kurdish official signed a deal with a terrorist organization the PYD in that day they had made a decision to cut aid to us during the meeting with officials including Mr Michael, he assured that the US relationship with the YPG was a tactical military one they wanted to use them against Da’esh to be included in the US-led coalition. PYD is neither a Kurdish nor Syrian Party it doesn't have a Syrian or Kurdish agenda, the PYD is limited missions to be accomplished in Syria and is strongly linked to Iran, let the Americans proves that the PYD is a Kurdish or Syrian Party we abuse the Kurds to be associated them with the PYD they've harmed the Kurds more than the Assad regime did we reflected that back to the whole world that the Kurdish cause is a Syrian national cause there is no settlement for the scores except you're coming to terms with Syria is the PYD cause the division between the Arabs and the Kurds the Syrian public's opinion was polarized by the PYD practices we hope the US could distinguish between the Kurds with a Syria National Council and none Syrian and none Kurdish organization and night Kurdish organization the PYD was used by the US for their own interest.

Question: Turkey took Afrin from YPG during its operation “Olive Branch” there are lots of Syrian Kurds who live in Afrin and others who are now refugees in Turkey the US announced the withdrawal of its troops and the Civil War seems to near to an end how do you see the role of Ankara in the future of your people and Syria?

Answer: Turkey has a strong and steady position towards the rights of the Syrian people it's back the Syrian Revolution now four million are living and working in Turkey there are also studying at Turkish universities the Turkish government has open University classes teaching in Arabic as well these facilities aren't found in other places where refugees live except Iraq’s Kurdish region there are also 400000 Kurdish people who sought refuge in tears we do think Turkey her first major role in supporting the Syrian Revolution we have heard from many Turkish officials with respect to the rights of the Kurds in Syria including former foreign minister Ahmad Devout Oğlu and the current Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Chavez Oğlu saying that they support Kurdish rights in Syria in accordance with the will of the Syrian they differentiate between the PYD and the Kurds in Syria I think the biggest danger facing the Kurdish causes after Da’esh is the PYD this organization is establishing a Kurdish Arab conflict in this will negatively affect the Kurdish cause.
