ARK News.. The Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) condemned the abduction of teacher Hassan Kalash, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria (KDP-Syria), and called on the relevant authorities to act immediately and take all necessary measures to secure his release and ensure his safe return to his family.

In a statement, the KNC said Kalash was abducted by unidentified individuals in the town of Derik’s countryside on September 30 and that his whereabouts remain unknown.

The KNC said the incident was particularly concerning because it was carried out in broad daylight in the center of the town against a peaceful educator, describing it as part of a series of similar incidents reported recently.

The council said the incident undermines social and humanitarian norms and challenges the authority of the security forces, while contributing to instability and raising concerns among residents about their safety and security.

The KNC called on the relevant authorities to act swiftly to secure Kalash’s release and safe return, arrest those responsible, establish their identities regardless of who they are, and bring them to justice.

The council also stressed that condemning and rejecting threats to citizens’ security is a national, social, and moral responsibility shared by human rights and humanitarian organizations and civil society forces. It called for collective efforts to protect community security and preserve civil peace, while urging the responsible authorities to fully carry out their duties.
