Nechirvan Barzani: All Peshmerga Forces to Be Fully Unified Soon

ARK News.. Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani highlighted the latest security and political developments in the Kurdistan Region, revealing that all Peshmerga forces have been reorganized within the framework of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and will be fully unified soon.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, September 17, 2026, President Nechirvan Barzani said relations among the political parties, particularly between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), have made progress compared with the past, expressing hope that the current political atmosphere would lead to positive results.

He added that several positive meetings have been held involving the prime minister, deputy prime minister, security authorities, and the political bureaus of the two ruling parties, the KDP and PUK, regarding the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet.

President Nechirvan Barzani said that although talks are moving in the right direction and significant steps have been taken, no final date has yet been set for forming and announcing the new cabinet.
