Masrour Barzani Receives Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev
ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, on the occasion of the ambassador’s conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Iraq.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani thanked the Russian ambassador for his efforts to strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The two sides also stressed the importance of further strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia across various fields.
For his part, Kutrashev thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for its cooperation and coordination during his diplomatic mission and expressed Russia’s desire to further develop bilateral relations.
The meeting, which was also attended by Russia’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Maxim Rubin, also addressed the latest developments and broader political situation in Iraq and the region.
