Ahmad Jarba Condemns Iranian Drone Attack on Masrour Barzani’s Office

ARK News... Ahmad Awinan al-Jarba, head of the Syrian Tomorrow Movement, strongly condemned the targeting by Iranian drones of the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani early today.

In a statement on Monday, August 17, 2026, Jarba said the targeting of Salahuddin Resort, along with repeated previous attacks on the city of Erbil, cannot be justified as part of the “war waged by extremist Iranian forces” under the pretext of targeting U.S. interests or anticipating any action against Tehran.

He said the attacks were part of a “planned operation” aimed at undermining the security of the Kurdistan Region’s capital and the economic, political, and security achievements made by the region in its efforts to build a “civilized Iraqi model.”

Jarba added that this civilized model “cannot be tolerated by Iran’s hardline wing or allowed to expand, as it represents the objective opposite of their hardline policies,” arguing that such policies “have harmed Iran before anyone else” and are undermining its relations with neighboring countries and the wider world
