President Barzani on the 80th Anniversary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party: The Party Is Rooted in Coexistence Among All Components

President Masoud Barzani said in a message marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) on Sunday, August 16, 2026, that the party represents the strength and steadfast defender of the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan and a guarantor of stability, stressing his firm belief in coexistence, brotherhood, and harmony among all national and religious components.
The Full Text of President Barzani’s Message on the 80th Anniversary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
On the occasion of August 16 and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to the honorable families of the martyrs, the brave Peshmerga, all the party’s supporters and members, and the entire people of Kurdistan.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party was founded during a difficult and challenging period with the aim of restoring hope and strength to the people of Kurdistan. Throughout its history of struggle, the party has served as a school for activists and revolutionaries in Kurdistan and as a steadfast defender of the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan at every stage.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party, in the past, present, and future, is a means of serving the people and achieving national and patriotic goals and values. The Kurdistan Democratic Party is rooted in its firm belief in coexistence, brotherhood, and harmony among all national and religious components and all political parties in Kurdistan and Iraq. It also regards the principles of partnership and respect for the Constitution as guarantees of stability, security, and prosperity throughout Iraq.
On the occasion of August 16, my message to the party’s supporters, members, and wider public is that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is a source of strength for the people of Kurdistan and that the party’s primary mission is to serve the people of Kurdistan. With the help of Almighty God and through your will, determination, and efforts, together with those of the entire people of Kurdistan, no obstacle or impediment can prevent the fulfillment of this sacred duty.
On this occasion, we solemnly remember all the martyrs, Peshmerga, activists, and heroes who made sacrifices throughout the history of the party’s struggle. I also express my appreciation for the role of the party’s cadres, members, and dear supporters who have sincerely and devotedly supported their party under all circumstances, without tiring, and who have written pages filled with history and glory for their people.
