Kurdistan Region President Receives Iraq’s Ambassador to Spain
ARK News.. Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Dr. Ali Shamran, Iraq’s newly appointed ambassador to Spain, on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
During the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Ali Shamran on assuming his new post and wished him success in carrying out his duties. He stressed the importance of strengthening the relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Spain in a manner that serves their mutual interests.
For his part, Iraq’s ambassador to Spain expressed his pleasure at meeting President Nechirvan Barzani, praising his pivotal role in the region and affirming his commitment to working to further strengthen Iraq’s and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with Spain.
The meeting also addressed the overall situation in Iraq and the latest regional developments, as well as ways to expand joint cooperation and deepen relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Spain across various fields.
