Alok Water Station Remains Out of Service as Efforts to Restore Operations Grow More Complex

ARK News.. Despite an announcement by Hasaka Deputy Governor and spokesperson for the presidential implementation team, Ahmed al-Hilali, that water pumping from the Alok Water Station in the city of Sari Kaniye would begin at the start of this month following the completion of maintenance work and the rehabilitation of the power network, Hasaka city continues to suffer from a water shortage.

According to local sources, the Alok Water Station has been subjected in recent months to extensive looting and acts of vandalism that affected essential equipment and infrastructure, making the process of restoring operations more complicated than previously announced.

The sources added that the main transmission pipeline connecting Alouk to al-Himma is affected by illegal encroachments and unauthorized connections, particularly along the section between the town of Til Tamr and the city of Sari Kaniye, requiring extensive technical repairs before water pumping can resume.

As the disruption continues, residents' hardship has intensified, with many now relying entirely on water tankers, whose prices have risen sharply due to increasing fuel costs.
