The Kurdistan Diaspora Union, under the supervision of Shiva Barzani, organized the First Conference of the International Kurdish Language Union in the German city of Düsseldorf, with broad participation from Kurdish academic and cultural elites from across the diaspora.

The conference, which featured eight consecutive hours of panel discussions and dialogue sessions, brought together hundreds of participants from various European cities to discuss ways of preserving Kurdish national identity and promoting mother-tongue education for younger generations in the diaspora. Particular emphasis was placed on the project to standardize and unify Kurdish linguistic terminology as a fundamental step toward the future.

The International Kurdish Language Union, established in 2024 with the direct support and patronage of President Masoud Barzani, is one of the leading institutions operating under the umbrella of the Kurdistan Diaspora Union, supervised by Shiva Barzani.

The union aims to create a transformative platform that strengthens the connection between younger generations in the diaspora and their linguistic roots, while promoting a positive image of Kurdish culture on the international stage.
