Trump: An Agreement with Iran Is Near and “Very Good”
ARK News.. U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States is close to reaching an agreement with Iran, describing the anticipated deal as “very good,” while emphasizing that military pressure will continue if diplomatic efforts fail.
In an interview with Fox News on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Trump said he prefers diplomatic solutions and praised the performance of the Iranian negotiators. However, he stressed that military operations would continue if a fair agreement ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons is not reached.
Washington’s Conditions
Trump explained that the U.S. conditions include a full Iranian commitment not to seek possession of a nuclear bomb, in addition to guaranteeing freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. He argued that previous U.S. strikes had prevented Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He added that reaching an agreement would lead to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic, noting that the naval measures imposed by the United States are placing significant pressure on the Iranian economy.
Negotiations Continue
The U.S. president stated that the Iranian side has expressed agreement not to develop or acquire nuclear weapons, affirming that negotiations are progressing “slowly but steadily” and that his administration will not rush into concluding an agreement that does not serve American interests.
International Anticipation
Diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran continue in an attempt to reach an agreement that would end the tension and conflict between the two countries, which have persisted for months, amid regional and international concerns that the negotiations could falter and trigger security and economic repercussions for the region and the world.
