President of the Kurdistan Region and British Ambassador to Iraq Discuss Developments in Syria

ARK News.. The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received on Monday evening, February 2, 2026, Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Iraq, along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, relations between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), as well as the political situation in Iraq, including the election of the President of the Republic and steps toward forming the new federal Iraqi government.

Both sides agreed on the importance of ensuring the success of the political process in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, stressing the need for coordination and cooperation among political forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to overcome challenges and address existing problems.

The meeting also focused on UK–Iraq and UK–Kurdistan Region relations, the situation in Syria, and the latest regional developments. The meeting was attended by the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
