ARK News.. The United States has welcomed a temporary truce reached between Syrian authorities and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods of Aleppo, describing the agreement as a vital step toward calm and dialogue.

In a statement posted on X, US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack said Washington “warmly welcomes the temporary truce reached last night in the Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods of Aleppo,” expressing “deep gratitude to all parties – the Syrian government, the Syrian Democratic Forces, local authorities, and community leaders – for the restraint and goodwill that made this vital pause possible.”

Barrack added that continued cooperation could pave the way for more lasting stability. “With sustained cooperation, and by the grace of the one God revered by all our communities, we hope this weekend will bring enduring calm and deeper dialogue,” he said.

Reflecting on the broader significance of the truce, the US envoy noted that moments of crisis often bring clarity. He said the ceasefire initiates “the vital work of guiding Syria’s diverse paths – its communities and neighboring states – toward a single, shared road to security, inclusion, and lasting peace.”

Barrack acknowledged that challenges remain, but stressed that a shared destination favors cooperation over confrontation, underscoring the importance of building on the temporary truce to advance dialogue and stability in Aleppo.
