President Barzani Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Relations and Friendship Between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan

ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani received Ziyad al-Batarseh, the newly appointed Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Sunday, 16 November 2025, in Pirmam. The visit served as an introduction following the consul general’s assumption of his duties.

During the meeting, the new Jordanian Consul General conveyed the greetings and high regard of His Majesty King Abdullah II to President Barzani. He emphasized that King Abdullah II has consistently instructed Jordanian officials to deepen and expand the friendship and strategic ties between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region. He also offered his congratulations to President Barzani on the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s electoral victory, securing more than one million votes—a clear testament, he said, to the party’s standing among the people of Kurdistan and to the progress and prosperity achieved under its leadership.

President Barzani expressed his gratitude to King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan for their support during difficult times. He described His Majesty as a dear brother and close friend, reaffirming the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to further strengthening relations and friendship with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The two sides also discussed the post-election political process in Iraq as well as internal political developments within the Kurdistan Region.
