President Barzani Congratulates the 241st Anniversary of the Founding of Sulaymaniyah

ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani on Friday, November 14, 2025, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Sulaymaniyah on the 241st anniversary of the founding of their city, wishing them peace, prosperity, and continued advancement.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
On the 241st anniversary of the founding of Sulaymaniyah, I extend my warmest congratulations to the dear people of the city— the city of the immortal Sheikh and the city of struggle and sacrifice. Sulaymaniyah is a cherished part of Kurdistan, the city of the martyrs of June 9, the city of the 1963 curfew, and the city that has always stood up to oppressors, tyrants, and successive regimes.
Like every other city and region of Kurdistan, Sulaymaniyah has long been a home to Kurdish writers, poets, intellectuals, activists, and revolutionaries. It has played a major role in the Kurdish liberation movement. In the early 1940s, the city— in all its diversity— graciously welcomed the immortal Barzani and the exiled Barzanis, a gesture of hospitality and solidarity that will never be forgotten.
On this anniversary, I wish peace and prosperity to the honorable people of Sulaymaniyah. They deserve all forms of progress and leadership.
