ARK News.. Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa presented U.S. President Donald Trump with a rare archaeological artifact — an ancient musical notation tablet believed to be among the oldest known in human history. The artifact originates from the ancient city of Washokani, capital of the Hurrian–Mitanni Empire located in the Sere Kaniye region.

According to Kurdistan24, the musical tablet represents a key example of the artistic and cultural sophistication of the Hurrian–Mitanni civilization, which flourished thousands of years ago. Washokani served as the political and religious center of this early culture, considered one of the foundational influences on musical and religious traditions in the ancient Near East.

Hurrian–Mitanni Heritage and Kurdish Roots

A number of researchers agree that the Hurrians and Mitanni were of Kurdish origin, contributing to the formation of rich and influential ancient cultures. Their legacy is reflected in linguistic, musical, and religious traditions that shaped the broader region.

Similar archaeological findings connected to this civilization were also discovered in homes belonging to the Hurrian community in Ugarit, located on the Syrian coast. These discoveries further demonstrate the extensive reach and impact of Hurrian–Mitanni culture across the Fertile Crescent.
