Omid Sabah: KDP Prioritizes Protecting the Kurdistan Identity of Kirkuk

ARK News.. Omid Sabah, Chief of Staff of the Kurdistan Regional Government, affirmed that the primary concern of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for the people of Kirkuk is ensuring that they vote to protect the city’s Kurdistan identity.

Speaking at a press conference, Sabah said: “At the KDP, we place great importance on the Kurdistan identity of Kirkuk, and it has been at the heart of all our previous work.”

He noted that after announcing voter turnout figures by midday, “We engaged in dialogues with all parties and political currents to encourage higher participation.”

Sabah confirmed that, “Following the party’s efforts to encourage widespread voter participation, turnout increased significantly.”

He added: “Our message to all parties is to work together and coordinate to protect Kirkuk’s Kurdistan identity. After that, each party or political force can organize itself as it wishes, but the priority now is safeguarding the city’s Kurdistan identity.”

Sabah also noted that “From the start of voting until 12:00 noon, we recorded eight legal observations with the Electoral Commission, primarily concerning the need to guarantee citizens’ legal rights in the voting process.”
