PM Masrour Barzani Inaugurates Strategic Erbil–Duhok Natural Gas Pipeline Project
ARK News.. Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated the strategic Erbil–Duhok natural gas pipeline project today, Tuesday, November 2025, in the city of Duhok.
The project aims to deliver natural gas to the Kawashe Power Plant, which has a capacity of 1,000 megawatts, marking a key step toward providing cleaner and more sustainable energy for the region.
The 198-kilometer pipeline, constructed at a total cost of $591 million, was implemented by KAR Company.
The Duhok Gas Power Plant, also known as Kawashe Station, is one of the Kurdistan Region’s most vital electricity generation facilities, capable of producing up to 1,000 MW.
The project is being executed by Mass Group Holding under a Build–Own–Operate (BOO) contract with the KRG.
