Kurdistan Democratic Party Calls for Calm and Restraint in Pirde town
ARK News.. The Kirkuk–Garmiyan branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has issued a statement calling for calm and restraint following recent incidents in the Pirde (Altun Kopri) district north of Kirkuk. The party said it has been following the situation “since the first moments,” contacting the relevant authorities to “restore order and protect civilians,” emphasizing that any actions outside the rule of law are completely unacceptable.
In its statement, the KDP branch said: “We affirm that resolving the issue must be done through the law, which should remain the ultimate authority in all matters. We have contacted Turkmen Front leader Mohammed Samaan, and stressed the importance of calming the situation and resolving disputes through legal and peaceful means.”
The KDP office urged security and administrative authorities in Kirkuk to take the necessary legal measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring. It added that the recent events will not affect the electoral process, which will proceed on schedule and in a safe and stable environment.
The statement also underscored the need to preserve the spirit of brotherhood and coexistence among Kurds, Turkmen, and Arabs in Kirkuk, calling on all parties to avoid hate speech and incitement, and to ensure that electoral competition proceeds peacefully and responsibly, away from tension and violence.
