United Nations: Rebuilding Syria Is Vital for Stability Across the Entire Region
ARK News.. The Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Syria has stated that reconstructing Syria after 14 years of devastation is a crucial step toward achieving stability—not only within the country but across the broader region.
In an interview with France Press Agency (AFP), Rohi Afghani, the UNDP Deputy Representative in Syria, said: “The international community must act swiftly to rebuild Syria. Helping the country recover from the impact of war serves the interests of the Syrian people and contributes to the stability of the entire region.”
Afghani emphasized that the reconstruction needs in Syria are immense, noting that government officials from various parts of the country have reported severe shortages of housing, schools, and health centers, in addition to urgent needs for electricity and clean water.
He also pointed out that cleanup and debris removal efforts face major challenges due to the large quantities of unexploded ordnance scattered throughout the country, including among the rubble that must be cleared before rebuilding can begin.
