Over 60 People Killed Under Torture in Syrian Prisons Since Early 2025
ARK News.. A Syrian human rights source reported that the Syrian Interim Government is repeating the same patterns of the ousted Syrian regime through arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and torture.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, as of Monday, October 20, 2025, at least 62 detainees have died inside prisons run by the interim government.
Among the victims was the former commander of Taftanaz Airbase, with the majority of the deceased coming from Homs Province — a deeply alarming sign of escalating abuses and deaths in detention centers.
The source indicated that most of these killings were driven by sectarian or retaliatory motives, and that no real accountability has been enforced.
Only a handful of isolated disciplinary actions have reportedly taken place, while the majority of perpetrators remain unpunished, reflecting a continuing culture of impunity and persistent violations against civilians.
