ARK News.. Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that relations between Iraq and Syria are “normal and marked by mutual official visits,” emphasizing that Baghdad seeks to support and assist Damascus in ways that promote its stability.

According to the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein — who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister — made the remarks during a panel discussion at the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum held in Naples, Italy.

He stated that instability in Syria “negatively impacts Iraq,” adding that his country does not wish to see a repeat of the ISIS experience, which severely affected regional security.

Hussein noted that Iraq “offers advice and consultation to its Syrian brothers without interfering in their internal affairs.”

He also underlined the importance of including all Syrian components in a comprehensive political process, stressing the need to build mutual understandings that can foster lasting peace and stability.
