Lavrov: Putin and al-Sharaa Discussed the Issue of Russian Military Bases in Syria
ARK News.. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed that President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa discussed a wide range of topics during their meeting in Moscow, including the issue of Russian military bases in Syria.
In a press statement on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Lavrov said the two leaders “discussed everything,” referring to the comprehensive nature of their talks, which covered various aspects of bilateral relations and military cooperation between Moscow and Damascus.

Putin and al-Sharaa held closed-door talks attended by a limited number of senior officials from both sides.
During the meeting, President Putin emphasized that relations between Russia and Syria have always been of a friendly nature, highlighting the historic and deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
For his part, President al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria seeks to re-calibrate its relations with Russia, stressing that “the most important thing now is stability in the country and the region.”
