Zalmay Khalil Zada: Kurdistan Has a Distinguished Record in Promoting Interfaith Relations
ARK News.. Former U.S. diplomat Zalmay Khalil Zada praised the Kurdistan Region and its leadership for maintaining an outstanding record in fostering positive interfaith relations, noting that for them, coexistence is not just a slogan or a conference theme, but a deeply rooted practice.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Khalil Zada wrote:
“Over the past decades, they have demonstrated in practice their commitment by saving, protecting, and sheltering people of various faiths — even when doing so was risky and costly.”
He highlighted one notable example: “During difficult times, they even postponed the start of the new school year so that classrooms could serve as safe shelters for Christian families fleeing persecution and violence.”
Khalil Zada concluded his message by saying, “Many people use the word tolerance casually these days — I’m proud of my Kurdish friends who live it in action.”
