Seventh Anniversary of the Passing of Kurdish Writer and Journalist Tawfiq Abdul Majid
ARK News.. Today, Sunday, October 12, 2025, marks the seventh anniversary of the passing of Kurdish writer and journalist Tawfiq Abdul Majid, who died in Turkey following a heart attack.
Born in 1952, Abdul Majid dedicated his life to serving his people and their cause as one of the faithful Kurdish activists. He spent more than three and a half decades in education before devoting himself to media work within the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria (PDK-S).
A former member of the PDK-S Central Committee and later a member of its Advisory Board, Abdul Majid was among the founding members of the Association of Kurdish Writers and Journalists / the General Union of Kurdish Writers and Journalists in Syria.
Due to repeated threats, he was forced to leave Qamishlo, eventually settling with his family in Istanbul, where he lived until his passing on October 12, 2018.
