Suwayda Demonstrators Renew Call for Self-Determination on “Friday of Gratitude”
ARK News.. Local sources reported that hundreds of residents of Shahba gathered in the city’s main squares on Friday in a demonstration dubbed the “Friday of Gratitude,” expressing appreciation to countries that have voiced solidarity with Suwayda’s recent demands.
According to the sources, demonstrators carried banners reaffirming their right to self-determination, alongside photos of martyrs and the missing, in a scene that reflected the people’s continued insistence on their fundamental rights and recognition of the sacrifices made by the province’s residents.
On Thursday, dozens of students and teachers staged sit-ins across Shahba to demand their right to education, as schools in the area remain closed and have been converted into shelters for displaced families following the Transitional Government’s military offensive on Suwayda, which has left thousands of residents homeless.
