Suwayda: Clashes Erupt Between Government Forces and “National Guard” Elements
ARK News.. Local sources reported that the southern Syrian province of Suwayda witnessed intense clashes between Syrian government forces and their allied militias on one side, and elements of the so-called “National Guard” on the other.
According to Suwayda24, the fighting on Wednesday night, October 8, 2025, was concentrated along the Rima Hazem–Walgha and Mazra’a–Walgha fronts, north and northwest of the city of Suwayda.
The source added that the intensity of the clashes subsided on the western axis of the city, though intermittent bursts of heavy machine-gun fire continued as part of sweeping operations. No significant changes were reported in control lines on the western fronts.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that heavy and medium machine guns were used in the clashes, noting that 23-mm anti-aircraft guns were fired toward the al-Khuder residential area inside Suwayda city from the same front-lines.
