President Barzani Receives Delegation from the Russian Orthodox Church

ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani received on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, a high-level delegation from the Russian Orthodox Church, headed by Metropolitan Anthony, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, at his residence in Salahuddin.

The Russian delegation expressed their delight at visiting the Kurdistan Region, praising President Barzani’s prominent role in fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence and harmony among the region’s diverse religious and ethnic communities.

They noted their deep appreciation for the Kurdistan Region—home to ancient civilizations and committed to the principles of coexistence—and voiced their interest in strengthening ties with all religious institutions in Kurdistan.

President Barzani warmly welcomed the delegation, underlining the historic friendship and strong ties between the peoples of Kurdistan and Russia.

He highlighted historical examples of loyalty and solidarity among Kurdistan’s communities during difficult times, stressing that coexistence and unity are deeply rooted values within Kurdish society and a legacy to be passed on to future generations.
