ARK News.. The U.S. State Department has welcomed the landmark oil agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the federal government of Iraq, and international oil companies to resume exports of Kurdistan’s crude.

In an official statement, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said:

“We welcome the announcement of an agreement between the Government of Iraq, the Kurdistan Regional Government, and international partners to reopen the Iraq–Turkey pipeline — an agreement facilitated by the United States that will bring tangible benefits to both Americans and Iraqis.”

Secretary Rubio praised the “tireless efforts” of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, senior federal officials, and KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, along with his cabinet, in making the breakthrough possible.

He stressed that the agreement would strengthen the mutually beneficial U.S.–Iraq economic partnership, create a more stable investment environment for American companies across Iraq, and contribute to enhancing regional energy security
