
Masrour Barzani: “Referendum Anniversary – The Brave Decision of the People of Kurdistan”
ARK News.. On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the Kurdistan Region independence referendum, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, congratulated President Masoud Barzani, the heroic Peshmerga, the families of martyrs, and the people of Kurdistan.
In his statement, Barzani said: "The referendum anniversary is the day of the brave decision of the people of Kurdistan, a day of victory for our nation’s will, a day of hope. Congratulations to President Masoud Barzani, the families of martyrs, the heroic Peshmerga, and the steadfast people of Kurdistan."
The Kurdistan Region held its independence referendum on September 25, 2017, in which approximately 93% of participants voted in favor of establishing an independent Kurdish state. The official results were:

Total participants: 3,305,925
Invalid votes: 219,990
Valid votes: 3,085,935
Final tally:
Yes: 2,861,000 (92.73%)
No: 224,468 (7.27%)
