
President Barzani on the Kurdistan Referendum Anniversary: “The Homeland Is Blood Flowing Through the Veins”
ARK News.. On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the Kurdistan Region independence referendum, President Masoud Barzani emphasized: “The homeland is not a map on paper, but blood flowing through the veins. What you sow today, you will harvest tomorrow.”
The Kurdistan Region held its independence referendum on September 25, 2017, where approximately 93% of participants voted in favor of establishing an independent Kurdish state. The official results were as follows:
Total eligible voters: 4,581,255
Total participants: 3,305,925
Invalid votes: 219,990
Valid votes: 3,085,935
Final tally:
Yes: 2,861,000 (92.73%)
No: 224,468 (7.27%)
