President Barzani thanks the United States of America

ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani met with Joshua Harris, the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires in Iraq, in Pirmam.

Barzani Headquarters announced that the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires emphasized during the meeting the friendship between the United States and the Kurdistan Region, noting that the United States wants a strong Kurdistan because Kurdistan's strength contributes to Iraq’s stability and security.

Joshua Harris reaffirmed his country’s support for the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region and for dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil, stressing that the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees must be paid and that a solution to this issue must be found.

He also highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s successful experience, particularly in the energy and electricity sectors.

For his part, President Masoud Barzani expressed his gratitude to the United States for aiding Iraq in general and to the Kurdistan Region in particular.

Regarding the political process in Iraq, President Barzani stated that Baghdad has not adhered to the constitution and agreements it has signed, and this has become a source of crises.

Regarding the Iraqi parliamentary elections, President Barzani emphasized that the best way to ensure fair representation of the people and an equitable distribution of seats is to return to the “one-constituency” electoral law.
