President Barzani: The Assyrian Community and All Components Are Integral Sons of Kurdistan

ARK News.. On Monday, September 15, 2025, President Masoud Barzani received a delegation of Assyrians from the United States, led by Sam Darmo, head of the Assyrian Foundation for Justice, at his residence in Salahuddin.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the deep-rooted historical ties between the Assyrian people and the people of Kurdistan.

President Barzani stressed that the Assyrian community, along with all other components of Kurdistan, are “true sons of this homeland, sharing a common destiny.” He added that the peoples of Kurdistan have lived together in the past and will continue to do so “in freedom and dignity.”

The president also emphasized that all institutions and agencies in the Kurdistan Region stand ready to support and assist all displaced persons who have sought refuge in the region, ensuring they feel a sense of belonging, stability, and peace as they build a promising future in Kurdistan.

Members of the visiting delegation expressed their gratitude and joy at meeting President Barzani and witnessing the progress achieved in the Kurdistan Region. They noted that they feel happy to be “back in their homeland among their people” and that they see no difference between themselves and the rest of the people of Kurdistan.

The meeting also touched upon the latest regional developments and the current situation in the broader Middle East.
