KNC Spokesman Faisal Yousef: Kurdish Question Cannot Be Met With “Iron and Fire”
ARK News.. The official spokesman of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria stressed that stability and prosperity in the region cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive solution that recognizes the Kurds as an indigenous people and a key partner in shaping the present and future of the states in which they live.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Faisal Yousef wrote:
“The phrase ‘Our Kurdish brothers’ is often repeated by officials in states where Kurds live as the native population, yet it implicitly suggests that Kurds are guests or of lesser standing, rather than genuine partners in the homeland, equal to Arabs, Turks, and Persians.”
He continued:
“Yes, we are brothers. But true brotherhood means full partnership in rights and duties, and an equal inheritance in land, history, and future. If this phrase lacks real substance, it becomes nothing more than an emotional gesture and an excuse to avoid serious, structural engagement with the Kurdish question.”
Yousef stressed that stability and prosperity across the region will remain elusive unless there is a fair, inclusive settlement that acknowledges Kurds as an integral people and partner in state-building.
He concluded:
“The Kurdish cause must be at the heart of any project aimed at transforming the Middle East into a region of peace and cooperation. Governments concerned must abandon policies of repression, containment, and confrontation through iron and fire, and instead work seriously toward justice, equality, and genuine national partnership.”
