President Barzani Meets French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot in Paris
ARK News.. On the sidelines of the inauguration of “Peshmerga Way” at André Citroën Park in Paris, Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani held a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
The two sides discussed relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the broader political process in the region, and the upcoming elections in Iraq.
Following the meeting, Minister Barrot posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that naming a street in Paris after the Peshmerga is “a symbol of loyalty and a lasting tribute to their role in the fight against ISIS.”
He emphasized that during his talks with President Barzani—whom he described as “the historic leader of the Kurdish people”—the importance of reinforcing ties between France, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region was underlined.
Minister Barrot stressed that the Kurds remain a steadfast ally of France in combating ISIS and in strengthening regional security.
