Federalism and Democratic Pluralism Seen as Key to Building a New Syria
ARK News.. Ahmad Hassan, head of the Afrin Local Council of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria, stressed that recognizing Kurdish rights and enshrining a federal system in Syria’s future constitution are essential guarantees for achieving justice and equality among all components of the country.
In a statement to ARK News, Hassan said:
“Federalism and a democratic parliamentary pluralistic system are the best path to building a new Syria, where everyone lives equally in rights and duties.”
Hassan further underlined that teaching the Kurdish language across Kurdish-populated areas, stretching from Rajo to Derik and in every place where Kurds reside, is a legitimate and constitutional right.
He also called for Kurdish to be established as a core subject in schools alongside Arabic, affirming its status as the language of an indigenous component of Syria.
