Netherlands Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Ties with Kurdistan Region

ARK News.. Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Christoph Brommersberger, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq, on Monday, September 1, 2025.

The meeting focused on ways to deepen bilateral relations and reviewed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the broader region.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude to the Netherlands for supporting the KRG’s reform programs aimed at diversifying the economy, particularly its assistance in revitalizing the agricultural sector.

For his part, the Dutch diplomat praised the progress and prosperity witnessed in the Kurdistan Region, highlighting its strong culture of peaceful coexistence and hospitality toward displaced persons and refugees.

He also reaffirmed his country’s readiness to enhance ties with the Kurdistan Region across multiple fields, announcing an upcoming visit by a Dutch trade delegation to Erbil to boost commercial and economic exchange between the two sides.

The discussions also addressed ongoing efforts to form the KRG’s 10th Cabinet, as well as the importance of resolving outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad in a manner that guarantees the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of Kurdistan’s citizens.
