US Aircraft Carrier “Nimitz” Heads Toward the Middle East
ARK News.. Sources have reported that a U.S. aircraft carrier has departed the South China Sea and is heading west toward the Middle East, following the cancellation of a planned port call in central Vietnam.
According to ship-tracking data from Marine Traffic, the USS Nimitz left the South China Sea on the morning of Monday, June 16, 2025, setting course for the Middle East.
The carrier had been scheduled to visit the Vietnamese city of Dananj later this week, but two sources—one of them a diplomat—told Reuters that the official port call, previously set for June 20, had been canceled.
One of the sources said the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam informed him that the cancellation was due to “urgent operational requirements.”
