White Helmets Dissolve Themselves, Join Syria’s Emergency Ministry
ARK News.. Syria’s Civil Defense organization, widely known as the White Helmets, has officially disbanded and merged into the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Response under the transitional Syrian government, according to media sources.
The move was not announced through a formal statement, but rather during the organization’s annual civil defense conference, attended by key members and representatives from the Syrian government.
Founded in 2012, the White Helmets emerged as a grassroots volunteer initiative aimed at rescuing civilians affected by airstrikes from the former Assad regime. As the military conflict intensified, the group evolved into a structured emergency response organization.
Their decision to integrate into the new Syrian state structure marks the end of an era and a shift toward institutionalizing emergency services under the transitional government framework.
