Nechirvan Barzani and Ahmet Davutoglu Discuss Turkey–Kurdistan Region Relations

ARK News.. President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and former Turkish Prime Minister and leader of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoglu, described the ongoing peace process in Turkey as a “historic step and opportunity” that must not be missed. Both leaders emphasized the importance of collective cooperation to ensure the success of the process and the achievement of lasting peace.

President Barzani received Davutoglu and his accompanying delegation on Thursday morning in Erbil. The two sides held discussions on Turkey’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the Turkish peace process, as well as Davutoglu’s recent visit to various parts of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Broader regional developments were also reviewed.

During the meeting, both leaders reiterated that the peace process in Turkey represents a crucial moment that requires the commitment of all parties. They highlighted the supportive role that the Kurdistan Region can play in contributing to the success of the initiative.

President Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s full support for the peace process, expressing readiness to provide any necessary assistance to help foster peace. He underscored the significance of peace for Turkey and the wider region, emphasizing its positive implications.

For his part, Davutoglu praised the strong and evolving relations between Turkey, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. He stressed that strengthening ties and expanding the horizons of cooperation are vital for the shared future and stability of all parties involved.
