Masrour Barzani Congratulates the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union on Successful Conference

Masrour Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Secretary and Secretariat Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union, following the successful conclusion of their unification and electoral conference.

In his congratulatory message, Barzani stated:
"On the occasion of your successful conference—marked by the unification process and the election of the Secretary and members of the Secretariat Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union—I extend my warmest congratulations. I wish you continued progress and success."

Barzani further emphasized the historic role of the union, noting that "the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union has a proud legacy of organizational activism and steadfast advocacy for the rights and demands of students and youth, as well as its enduring commitment to national and patriotic causes."

He expressed hope that this new chapter in the union's journey would strengthen the capacity of Kurdistan’s youth and students through knowledge and creative thinking. He also underscored the importance of supporting national issues and the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region.

In closing, Barzani reiterated his congratulations and affirmed his full support for the union and its mission.

The unification conference of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s student and youth organizations officially began on the morning of Thursday, May 15, 2025. Held under the unified banner of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union, the event was attended by KDP President Masoud Barzani and Vice President Masrour Barzani.

Later that day, Shivan Mahmood—widely known as "Shivan Kurdistani"—was elected Secretary of the Union. Twelve candidates were nominated for the Secretariat, and eleven were ultimately elected. By unanimous vote of the newly elected members, Mahmood was officially chosen as Secretary.
