Around 16 Million People in Syria in Need of Health Support
ARK News.. The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that nearly 16 million people across Syria are in urgent need of healthcare support, particularly in the area of mental health services for those severely affected by displacement.
In a post on his official account on the platform X (formerly Twitter), WHO chief Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated:
“Nearly 16 million people throughout Syria are in need of urgent humanitarian health assistance.”
He emphasized that while the organization has been able to provide mental health services to some of the most severely affected individuals, the overall needs remain far greater.
Dr. Tedros noted that thanks to a $3 million contribution from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), the WHO has expanded its life-saving health services to reach over 500,000 people, offering them access to essential medical care.
