Source Reveals Israeli Demands in Third Round of Talks with Turkey over Syria

ARK News.. Azerbaijan is hosting the third round of negotiations between Turkey and Israel regarding the Syrian file, with delegates of a higher rank than in previous rounds taking part.

According to Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, the talks—mediated by the host country on Thursday, May 8, 2025—will focus on escalating tensions between the two nations over Turkey’s role in Syria, which has increasingly alarmed Tel Aviv.

A source cited by KAN stated that Ankara is planning to establish seven military bases in Syria, a move that has raised serious concerns in Israel.

The source also noted that a recent Turkish television broadcast displayed a map of the proposed locations of these bases under the provocative headline: "How Will Turkey Protect Syria?"—a framing that Israeli official reportedly found highly inflammatory.

Channel 11, also part of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, reported on Wednesday evening that Israel is expected to present two primary demands during the talks: that no military force posing a threat to Israel be stationed near the Israeli-Syrian border, and that no strategic weapons capable of endangering Israeli security be deployed within Syria.
