KNC and Syriac Union Party Discuss Broader Syrian Political Landscape

ARK News.. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, a delegation from the Kurdish National Council (KNC), headed by Council President Mohammed Ismail and members of the Presidential Board, visited the headquarters of the Syriac Union Party. They were received by the party's president, Dr. Sanharib Barsoum, co-chair Shamiran, and several party members.

The two sides discussed a range of issues related to the general political situation in Syria. They emphasized the importance of continuing meetings and consultations to exchange views between the Kurdish and Syriac-Assyrian peoples, as well as among all components of the Syrian population, with the aim of reaching a shared vision for the future of Syria.

Dr. Sanharib Barsoum expressed his satisfaction with the recent Unity Conference held between the Kurdish National Council and the Democratic Union Party (PYD), describing it as a historic step for the Kurdish people in Syria and for all communities in the region.

For his part, Mohammed Ismail outlined the joint vision that emerged from the conference, which addressed both national and ethnic dimensions of the Kurdish position. He reaffirmed the Council's commitment to guaranteeing the full and inclusive rights of all communities within a democratic, decentralized Syria.
