"A Clear Message": Israel Announces Strikes Near Syrian Presidential Palace
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Thursday, May 1, 2025, claimed responsibility for two attacks earlier this week that left five members of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces wounded.
According to Kurdish sources, the PKK justified the attacks by objecting to the construction of a new Peshmerga military base in the area, arguing that the base would hinder the movement of its fighters. The base is located within the borders of Amedi (Amadiya) district, deep inside the Kurdistan Region.
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Kurdistan Region Security Council reported that five Peshmerga fighters were injured in two attacks carried out by what it described as a "terrorist group" on Monday and Tuesday, April 28 and 29, targeting two bases in Duhok Province.
In a statement, the Council said: “Peshmerga and internal security forces are fully prepared to respond appropriately to any hostile attack.”
It added: “The Kurdistan Region Security Council strongly condemns these terrorist attacks and warns all groups and parties targeting the security of the Kurdistan Region.”
